Blogging your way to gaining new business

Jun 10 2015

Finding the time to blog isn’t the easiest thing to do, when you are a busy lawyer with a demanding caseload. But finding the time to blog and raise your personal online profile and that of your firm is time well spent according to recent research into how Yorkshire’s law firms appear online.

Yorkshire Business Insider reported on research which revealed that it was mid-tier Yorkshire law firms who are leading the way in the corporate legal sector when it comes to the strength of their online brand.

So what is it that they are doing right? And what can other firms learn from them?

Blogging

The top ranked law firm in the research was Lupton Fawcett Denison Till who admitted to investing substantial amounts of money (and time) in online branding and marketing. A big part of their strategy included blogging which has led directly to new work.

Blogging generates new business because blogs make it easy for people to find out more about a law firm and the individuals that work there. You get a much better sense of who they are and what they do; in a way that a brochure often can’t communicate. Blogs also make it easy for people to engage with lawyers by breaking down the barriers – imagined or not – between lawyer and clients.

At Kinch Robinson we know that that writing in a ‘non-legal’ way isn’t something that comes naturally. That’s why we offer a range of courses that can help you improve your writing skills.
