Charlotte Beckett
Charlotte is a non-practising solicitor with over ten years’ experience in the non-profit sector, specialising in operations and product design for education and training programmes.
Her experience includes being on the founding team of two award-winning women’s health education organisations, the latter earning her a 2024 UnLtd award for workplace awareness training on employment law and emerging compliance issues around key health topics such as menopause and fertility.
Charlotte is increasingly involved in projects exploring the practical risks and judgment issues raised by AI in professional settings. She is currently designing a UK school pilot that uses AI to bring together fragmented, largely unstructured learning data to track pupil progress against the national curriculum. The work focuses on synthesising multiple data sources into clear, auditable insights while operating within strict privacy and data-minimisation constraints. Working alongside an AI engineer, she has direct insight into emerging AI systems, including large language models, and the safeguards required for responsible professional use.
Charlotte trained at Fieldfisher, having previously worked there as a paralegal, and has international experience across the UK, US, and India. She now lives in a Dorset market town with her young family and is an active member of her local business network for startup, tech, and AI enthusiasts – aptly named Silicone Abbey.
Charlotte studied English Literature and Drama at the University of Birmingham before converting to law. She completed her training contract at Fieldfisher, having previously worked there for several years as a paralegal.
After moving to the US, she spent seven years with a non-profit organisation incubated by the Harvard Innovation Lab, delivering health interventions to families with newborns in rural India. She lived and worked in India for two years before returning to the UK after the pandemic, where she now focuses on the design and development of education tools.
Charlotte lives in Dorset with her young family. When time allows, she can be found on the Jurassic Coast swimming year-round, including winter, though she readily admits to cheating by making good use of the beach saunas that have thankfully appeared on almost every stretch of sand (or pebble).
