This course is perfect for getting to grips with the whys and hows of legal blogging. We'll show you how to pick the perfect topics to write about, and we'll shake up your lawyerly writing techniques so that they're fit for posting on-line.

Course Content

The course is a practical session that revolves around the specific content you want to write.

As such we ask that a blog in draft format is sent to our tutors in advance to be used on the training. Then through discussions and mutual reviews the group will identify successful techniques and habits to finalise the blog for publication.

Strategy for bloggers

  • Aims - delivering key messages, developing reputations and promoting interests
  • Identifying target readers and developing a following
  • Complementing the firm's marketing strategy
  • What are other law firms doing?

The nuts and bolts of blogging

  • Gatekeeping - risk management and editorial guidelines
  • Practicalities - getting your blog published

Preparing and fine tuning

  • Finding bright angles on dull material
  • How to write a striking introduction
  • Disciplined structure or warmly chaotic?
  • Keeping the reader’s attention in every paragraph and every sentence
  • Tuning the tone to your readers
Format

To book on this course, you must send a draft blog to the tutors one week in advance. You will be aiming to have the blog ready for publication after the course.

It's a very practical session based on your own work, including mutual reviews and discussion to identify successful techniques and habits.

The course can be delivered onsite or live online.
