This course pays attention to both speed and comprehension, and helps you to develop a range of techniques so that you can read faster and more effectively.

Our Speed Reading course covers of a range of techniques to help you rapidly absorb text and the important content. Being a lawyer and having to focus on the detail doesn’t have to slow you down.

Content

Our course is ideal for you if you regularly need to read and comprehend lengthy documents – or you just find that reading day-to-day correspondence takes too long.

This course covers:

  • Measuring your reading speed
    Speed and comprehension assessment
  • What happens when I read?
    Eye movements, silent voices, regression and concentration
  • Better comprehension
    Analysing structure – how has the writer organised the text?
    Attentive reading skills
    Getting the most from dull or complex material
  • Increasing speed
    Pacing, skimming, summarising, retaining and remembering.
    Strategies for reducing risk
    Flexibility – using the right techniques at the right times
  • Re-measuring your reading speed
    Final speed and comprehension assessment

Outcomes

As a result of attending our Speed Reading for Lawyers course, you will:

  • build your range of reading skills
  • learn how to choose reading techniques appropriate to the text
  • be encouraged to practise to embed new skills
  • learn how to increase your reading speed and maintain or improve your comprehension

This session is delivered live online. It is interactive (not a webinar) and includes polls, Q&A and breakout rooms.
